A kind of electrolysis akin to "electroplating" or even "EDM
(ElectroDestructive Machining)" takes place, including drying-out of the
capacitor. If time of reversal is sufficient, steam and explosion can occur,
as I mentioned elsewhere. nasty!

Effect, you ask? Loss of money!
