I've been using it since v1 (it was on one 5 1/4" disk then). I like the
solid modeling of the v8 Pro -- it saves me a lot of time for the things I
do!

I have not used it directly to drive a CNC as it didn't have a CAM option
until recently. I don't have the CAM so I can't comment there. I have
exported SAT, IGES, and DXF files into other CAM systems and used that
output to drive CNC's.

If you can get by with standard -- just download the free version. Only the
Pro version will allow you to make solid models.
