Hello all,
I am in final negotiations (with my wife) to buy a used 1997 Benchman 4000.
As I understand it, this machine is more or less the same one sold today
albeit with DOS interface. I can't get any more details as the main sales
people are currently at the Chicago trade show.
As I am a new member to this group, I am learning a great deal with each of
your posts. The recent discussions on axis drives has me wondering- this
unit comes with 42 oz. in. servo motors. All other indications of the 4000
seem to make it in the more robust class of benchtops. But... as I hear you
all speak, 42 oz seems quite small. Is it the lower friction ceramic linear
ways? Am I missing something?
Any thoughts on this or info of the particular machine or control would be
greatly appreciated.
