It was recommended to me once and I tried it on a bit of a home made set-up.
I'm sure it will work but you will need a good depth of solvent above the
work. I had about 1/2" and, the first time the electrode came down and
sparked I got a loud 'pop' and a shower of burning blobs of solvent. I spent
the next few minutes frantically stamping out little fires all over the
(carpeted) room and searching for others in the mountain of rubbish on the
workbench and corners of the room. I was chasing wisps of smoke for about a
quarter of an hour before I was happy that all was safe again!!!! ;o(
Since then I only used deionised water. I have also heard that a 50/50
mixture of water and glycol (car antifreeze) is good but haven't tried it
yet.
Best wishes,
Ian
