I'm brand new to machining -- not even a beginner. I've read
_Tabletop Machining_, _Machine Tool Practices_, a bunch of vendor
literature, a bunch of web sites, and a year's worth of trade rags.
I'm not new to computers. I have a Unix system administration
background, and have lately moved to development on Linux.
A week ago, after rereading all the Don Lancaster PostScript
flutterwumper notes, I was considering writing a stepper system for
Linux. Now that I've heard about EMC, I'm ecstatic. There will be an
EMC system in my future; perhaps a Sherline, perhaps something a bit
bigger. Maybe one day a homemade hexapod.
Is there someone in the Boston area who might give me a tour and a
demo of an EMC mill, in return for lunch, dinner, a pitcher of your
favorite beverage, etc?
