Subject: Servo Taig from Supertech
Does anyone here have any expereince with the Taig based CNC mills
sold by Supertech? What about Supercam software?
I have the Servo system on the way.
Questions;
1. The controller is an EMC-XYZGS-BX. Is this proprietary? Can I use
things such as Bobcad and Master5 with this controller?
[The controller is based on Gecko 320 drives; I'm not sure what this number
refers to. BobCad, which writes G-code, should work okay under SuperCam,
which is a control program that Dennis at SuperTech has written, as long as
you don't use any G-codes that aren't on the list of codes supported by the
program (which only accepts G00, G01, G02 and G03). Master5 is basically a
control program, not a code-writing program. Dennis won't guarantee the
controller to run under any control software but his own, although if you
figured out the pin-outs, you could probably get Master5 to work. I know
someone has got it to work with DeskWinNC.]
2. How much should I worry about the "tuning" of the servos in the
future? Supertech is setting it up initially, so I assume that it
will work out-of-the-box, but what about later?
Thanks for any input.

[I don't think this should be a problem. Gecko drives are not straight
analog devices like ordinary servo amps, and don't have some of the issues
associated with them, like servo drift.]
