Connectors

I was looking around for a connector to connect my
motor power cables to my electronics cabinet. Many
people on the list have recommended the AMP plastic
connectors, which are pretty nice, but the power
contacts are $3 apiece. So I kept looking, and found
a nice connector from neutrik.
I had used some neutrik xlr connectors at work, and
they were really easy to assemble, and work well. So
when I saw that they have what is called a speakon
connector with either 2 4, or 8 contacts, I decided
to get some. A matched set of 4 contact connectors
only costs $11 from mouser. The 8 contact connectors
look relatively pricey at almost $18 a pair.
I got my connectors in today, and they are pretty
nice. Very solid twist lock, although it stumped me
for a few minutes at first.

30Amps continuous per contact is nothing to sneeze at.
If I don't have anything good in the basement, I'll
probably use amp plastic circular connectors for the
encoder cables.
