Whacked out computer?

I am having a problem I am at a loss to figure out and hoping for some
help.

I have TurboCNC all set on a bootable floppy and it is completely
configured for my Sherline mill. When I use it on 2 different systems
(boot from the disk and start TurboCNC) everything works just great. Now
when I move the parallel cable to the new box and boot this system off
the floppy everything is wacky. The Z axis moves in tandem with the X
when I jog the X and if I try to jog the Z it will only go in one
direction. If I move the parallel cable back to the system next to it
and boot off the floppy everything is fine again. Has me pretty
perplexed. The computer that is giving the problems is a clone with an
ASUS K7M mother board running an Athalon 750 processor.

The parallel port is set for normal in the bios and the system is now
set for non-plug and pray OS in the bios.

Any ideas? The goal is to run this new system on Mach1. I tried it on
Mach1 and was experiencing weirdness so I figured I would see what
TurboCNC would do as I had an already configured file for it on a
bootable floppy and I wanted to make sure Mach1 was not causing my
problems.
