If using Gecko servo drives you hook them to the drive itself. If using
steppers and want to have encoder feedback, you will need a card of some
kind that is supported by the software you use. EMC supports the
Kuluga/Mauch DRO card which is no longer available. Not sure what other
software supports encoder feedback with steppers.
