You'll probably need around 350-450 oz-in steppers coupled to ball
screws if you can afford them. Go with Gecko or Rutex drives and Mach1
for control. You can't do much real fun stuff without all three axies,
however.

I'd also suggest you install some drywall behind and beside the mill.
Hot (fish and) chips will cut through your vapour barrier in no time...
You must live somewhere cold eh?
