Hi Brian:
It was me who orignally had to use a 1k resistor to get my API's to work.
A friend had to do the same. But it depends on capacitance of the particular
cable I found. I scoped it to find the point where the current was low
enough from capitance not to trigger the opto. The PAI for some reason
requires VERY little current to trigger, in your system, you may have no
need of the resistor.
Or you may need a slightly different value. If your having the problem,
you need only to measure the input to the API with a low commanded. Is it
reading less than 3 volts when high, going to 0 volts at low? Mine was,
without the resistor. With the resistor, the voltage is a more manageable 5
volt to 2 volts and the opto works fine.
