Hi folks,
After reading all the posts on the Free version of Visualmill I
could not resist downloading and trying it out. I have used Aliebre
Design to generate a part, saved it as stl.... file and imported it
into Visualmill. I was able to very quickly set it up and generate
gcode for use in Mach1. Slick as can be everything worked great.
Next I tried to complicate things so I made a part in Turbocad 8pro.
I saved that file as a .sat file and imported it into Aliebre
Design. I did have to use the heal utility but it did import and
then I just exported that file as a .stl file and imported that to
visualmill. Again, no problems, everything worked fine using Mach1
as the controller.
Conclusion: Visualmill Free is a "Very nice" and useful gift to the
Hobbiest community. I will certainly consider buying the full
version 4.0 in the not too distant future.
I will still use Dolphin but the Aliebre / Visualmill Free combo
add's a new dimension to this great hobby.
Thanks MecSoft,
