Useful Cad/Cam tools

All of the responses about my transformer question made me want to tell
others in the group how I keep track of the really good messages in this
group and also mention two other must have Cad/Cam support apps..
An excellent freeware is Keynote. (safe, small, sourcecode)
http://keynote.prv.pl/
It is a little "tree" type notepad that can store huge amounts of
information. A really big advantage in how it applys to this group, is
an "AutoPaste" feature. Open the program and let it idle, With
"Clipboard capture" turned ON in a tree view, you can just "COPY" all
of the good comments, and it /automatically/ pastes the information in a
new node on the tree. No copy>Paste>copy.Paste. You can also store gobs
of machine details, G-code files Etc. Even "links" to internal files and
websites, pictures and more. I find it every bit as important as my Cad
program (well almost). You will find you can not live without it, I
actually catagorize G-code jobs in it and send them to a machine when I
need it.
Another one that is payware, is "TypeItIn".
http://www.wavget.com/typeitin.html
You want to buy the full version for $19. It allows you to create a
programable button bar that will whip those Cad/Cam programs into shape.
It allows you to configure key commands into a button. I've used it to
place special characters in G-Code when Post processors refuse to. Use
it to make your own toolbar for drawing. Or set it up to type typical
responses in E-mails.
The last one is Sensiva.
http://www.sensiva.com/symbolcommander/index.html Remember the old Cad
program that had really slick "right Mouse Slide" commands that called
up drawing tools ? Well Sensiva puts it back into any cad program. You
simply can not believe how much faster you can draw with this applied,
even if you only use it to automate your Zoom and view commands.
Unfortunately, I think they now charge for this once freeware. Get your
hands on an old version. Its great.
Before I get hammered for OT. It IS on topic. These are really must have
"add-ons" for the programs we are forced to use, that continuously
"miss" the features we desire and need to be productive.
If you want more info contact me off-List.
