Hi everyone,

I have aquired an nice nichols production mill for my CNC retrofit
project. I liked it for several reasons. Small footprint(24X24 base),
long travel in the X direction (20 inches), in like new condition,
and most of all it has ball screws in the x and y direction. I need
some advice in the use of the existing drive motors as the x is
driven by a servo motor (it appears to have a tach but no feed back)
and the y is driven by a 850 in oz. 200 step/inch stepper motor. I
will install a z drive to match x and y. What should I keep and what
should I replace? I would think one would be usable. PS : This is a
home shop toy.
