Bill,
Thanks. I thought of that already so I took the brushes out and spun
the shaft a bit. A little smoother but still some cogging. I was
tempted to take one apart, but fought off the temptation to do so by
remembering that I cracked a magnet on the lathe motor at work by not
keeping my rampant curiosity in check =]
