Hi Les,
Yes, most software will allow you to tell it which mode to be in.
G-code processors generally use G20 to select inch programming, and
G21 for metric programing (this way the processor knows whether X10.0
is to represent 10 inches or 10 millimeters). Additionally, software
parameters are used to define steps per unit where unit may typically
be in inches (i.e. 2000 steps per inch when using a 200 step/rev
motor and a lead screw of 10 TPI) You may have to do some math to
convert your steps per unit to inches depending on which control
software you use.
