Grand Rapids Grinders had a Prototype CNC which I was showen by
the owner. They are out of bussiness now from what I heard. I built many
automatic surface grinders for the vane industry. Many used PLC controled
stepper motor indexers. Units used included stm103, stm105,tbm155 etc. I
think a PC/CNC would be easier to build than a indexed unit. Dresses are
programed every x no. of feeds. After the dress or during it, the wheel is
fed forward the dress amount which is small. The wheel then cuts the metal
by the amount that had worn away. After 2 passes, normal feed restarts. Have
fun with it. Dale
