I use and sell Ametek DC brush type motors. Generally they are very nice
motors and have a good kt of about 50 oz in per amp. I have seen these
motors with a rated voltage of 24 to 48VDC. The motors are are nicely
build and run great. WARNING some( repeat SOME)of the ametek dc brush
type servo motors were desiged to run in one direction only. They have
two wire coming from the motor. One of the wires is internally connected
to the case frame. So ALWAYS check out the motor before buying it by
having the seller run a continuity test between the case and each wire.
It should be open. This motor can blow the output side of your servo
amp if the motor insn't insulated from the other motors so be careful.
BTW I have seen this on other surplus motors also. Really scary to find
a motor that has the red wire internally grounded to the case.

Anyone have any experience with Ametek DC servomotors in lieu of
stepper motors?
Thanks,
