retrofitting to existing servo amp

I'm confused about termilolgy. I have three Yaskawa servopacks. I have
deserned that they use these inputs from the contoller: pulse train, and
sign... from what I can figure, these are analigous with step, and
direction? (by the way, thanks to Darcy Paker for the indepth review of
servo technology!)
