I thought I would share this with the group.
CNC ZEUS (www.cnczeus.com) is dos based control software
for generating pulses/steps from g-code. It's dos based to remove the
need for additional hardware. All that is minimally required is a
parallel port (which almost all computers already have). I know the
guy who wrote it, so I suppose this is a bias opinion, but I was very
impressed with it. He runs a retrofitted Cincinatti (pretty big cnc
mill) with it. But he also has a small desktop cnc that he cuts
circuit boards with that runs on stepper motors.
It runs a lot like a Fanuc 6m, so it was pretty easy for me to get
used to using. When I asked him how much he was selling it for, he
said it was around $100, but the demo version is free to use and
distribute, and isn't feature crippled. Just limited in file length.
Anyways, check it out!
