Jeff, I think I have the same keyboards that you mention in your CCED post.

They work well and I enjoy the mobility. Nice thing is that they will work
with any PC.

I purchased a case of new wireless keyboards with integrated trackballs for
some video conferencing systems we were deploying. They are made by
Compaq. I have about 6 left. If it will help anyone to comlete their
project, I'll let them go for $35 ea. + shipping (via FedEx Express Saver)

The following is a copy of my posting to the Master5 group. You might find
it usefull



I have no commercial or ownership connection to the companies referenced
here, but have seen numerous references to peoples challenges with wireless
keyboards.



I'm in the computer business and have tried many IR wireless keyboards.
The
best (BY FAR) are those used with high end video teleconference systems
like
those that come from Polycom. (I guess when someone pays over $15K for a
glorified PC, they demand a usable keyboard). They have very high powered
IR transmitters wrapped around the perimeter (L, C, R) of the front of the
keyboard so the KB doesn't have to be pointed at the sensor. The range is
from across a large room (I've gotten close to 40' at an angle from mine).
If held in the hand, they have a built-in trackball under the right thumb
and the L-R mouse buttons under the right thumb. It connects to the PC's
KB
and mouse ports so it is operating system independent (as opposed to USB
which requires the operating system to be recognized).



Anyway, when I embarked on my CNC project (am in the final stages of my
first conversion and testing with MACH1), I decided that a wireless
keyboard
would be cool. After trying a few with mixed to lousy results, I decided
to
stop fooling around (either give up the idea or get a keyboard that had a
better chance of working). I tracked down the US importer of the keyboard
used in the Polycom systems (the Korean manufacturer wanted to know how
many
thousand I was interested in).

The only downside is they cost $112 each. I figured, after all the money
and time put into the project, I'd bite the bullet and try it. It has
worked without issue (other than using batteries) and I'm pleased as punch
with it. If a bunch of people are interested, I can probably work a deal
with them to discount them.



I'm thinking of trying a Logitech RF wireless game controller next. Anyone
have any experience with it?
