My firm does miniature cnc swiss machining. Your idea seems possible, but,
keep in mind that one of the main advantages in swiss turning is the ability
to turn relatively long parts without a live center or steadyrest. I would
suggest that unless you require this feature, a more conventional cnc lathe
setup my be better for you. For instance, normally, a swiss machine requires
centerless ground stock for starters. Constant diameter control of the raw
material is critical or you can have a vibrating, chattering mess. This can
be expensive. We have a separate size bushing for every size stock we use.
More expense.

Typically, swiss machines are used when very large numbers of parts are
necessary. Setup is harder than a conventional lathe. but, when they run,
they fly! Having said all that, the swiss style machines are fascinating and
hold incredible tolerances. Maybe you should try this project just for the
fun of it!
