Typically computer power supplies are Switching Power Supplies and need a
load on the output. If you have an old floppy drive or harddrive plug it
into one of the connectors and you should be up to 12v.
Buuut, I really wouldnt use that as a Stepper Power supply. 5volts has a
pretty good amperage supply rating but the 12v has a much lower Current
limit and you might be risking blowing more than just a Power Supply when
you finally load-down the motors. Hopefully they wont be under combined
heavy loads but if they will be, and you have a camera, (just kidding) be
ready to disconnect at the first signs of overheating, etc.
