Do you have any more info on this spindle? What is AB, air bearing?
Is it an AC induction motor, or permanent magnet motor?

I have a Westwind air bearing spindle that I have got running up to
400 Hz (24000 RPM) on a standard Magnetek VFD. AC Tech has
a VFD that goes to 1000 Hz, that would get you up to 60,000 RPM.
Because of the low inductance of these motors, you have to add
a series inductor on each of the 3 motor wires.
