Brad,

Most current stepper drives and the step and direction servo drives
watch the pulse pin to know when to drive the next step. On the drive
end it is often labeled pulse, step, or clock. Not sure what you are
planning to do, but if you are making your own drive you want it to
increment the motor one step increment based upon the value you have in
the software in the direction indicated by the direction bit.
