Hi Gene;

I've seen standard gates timing belts work just fine for old technology.

The HTD type belts are a worthwhile improvement to check out. HTD are
the belts with the rounded lugs. These belts if sized properly hold up
for a very long time. In an a slight differrent applicaiton of CNC
Cincinatti Milacron used such belts in their electronic mold machine.
Depending on the axis two or three lead screws where running off a belt.
