Actually, NOT such a joke! After some years of experience with SEA-shipping
of fragile, expensive parts, we tried AIR-FREIGHTING same, and the
(actually-slight!) extra cost was QUICKLY offset by the new lack of need for
replacement/repairs to the goods, as the air-freight people were CLEARLY more civilized
than the dockworkers!

I shipped the 14 crates containing the huge X-Y table to England by air
($6000, thank you!), and there wasn't even so much as a scuff on the particle-board
boxes! (Thank Heaven for "drw-wall screws"!)
