A long time ago, way before I had a surface grinder I made up two
toolholdes that I used in the lathe and the mill. One for the air-die
grinder a (bore with z travel) and one for the 4.5" hand grinder. (base
plate, 2 ears for the handle bolts and adjustable support for the motor)
The unit for the die grinder worked great, but the angle grinder became
a big problem. You never got accuracy and it woobled like hell.
On my mill I had a flat to screw on. on a Briggy I would go with a
splited bore and squeeze screw direct on the outside of the quill. Dont
hastle much with the spindle there is always too much play in the gear
coupling of the head that you will not get it comletely ´tight. And you
might damage it.
An electric die grinder is even of better quality than the air driven
units. quite a few local shops use them for internal cilindrical
grinding on their lathes in stead of internal spindles.
My 2 cents.
