You could add optoisolators between the pc's parallel port and the
5804 board to protect the parallel port. For a schematic example
showing the 4n25 optoisolator go to the schematic at:

I have previously taken the chance to order allegros ucn5804b as
samples and i have them here, all i need now is a circuit diagram
that will enable me to attach these between parallel port and
