Any date on VM5 yet?
[They were saying it would be ready pretty soon, but it could easily take
another month.]
Can anyone explain what they mean by 5 aixs
positioning?
[5-axis positioning is a step toward true 5-axis milling. The 5 axes don't
all move at the same time, but you'd have the option to fix a tilting
spindle-housing at a non-vertical angle to a workpiece mounted in a 4th-axis
rotary table parallel to the X-axis. This can help you reach parts of the
model which would otherwise be inaccessible, or get a better cut on a steep
section.]
For $500 I guess I will upgrade.

[It's an attractive upgrade offer, especially considering the full 5.0
version will otherwise cost $4k. Fortunately, they will also be offering a
new "basic" version which will have nearly all the features of the current
4.0 version, plus some extra 2d and 2.5d functions, for about $1000.]
