A dongle is a piece of hardware, usually plugs into your Parallel port -
some are serial, but the most common is parallel - and it sends a signal,
cross wires, contains a code - any number of conceivable options - I can see
USB Dongles becoming more prevalent - that tells the software you have the
right to use the software.
It is a "key" to allow access to the software basically.
