Question on parallel breakout board - opto isolation

I've ordered a pretty cute item from Dontronics in Austalia. Its an
8 relay parallel output box ($47US delivered). It seels a waste to
use the thing for output only! I'd like to connect the input pins
(no traces attached to them on the gadget) for use with MACH2. I
understand that they should be opto-isolated and have pull up (down?)
resistors, but that about where my electronics knowledge ends.
Anyone able to help with what I need in a circuit to handle the five
inputs to the parallel port? Is there a cheap and easy way to do
this?
