Assuming that you know the dia, but not the length of each tool, could you
set up a 'zero' block (use available scrap stock) somewhere within reach of
the tool (the top of which you've milled to Z0.0, hence the name), and
after each tool change, go into 'Manual Mode' to place the tool above, and
just on the edge of the block, and manually, feed the tool down, until it
just touches the 'zero' block. (You may want to use 3x5 cardstock, coming
down, and when it catches, GO SLOWer, till the mill just touches). G90
this 'Z' value as Z0.0, (leave X, Y values as they are) then move back to
the part, go back into Program Mode, and press START. At least, that's my
MO, when faced with this problem. Your mileage may vary...
