I think most of use the power supply calc listed in the
www.geckodrives.com white paper on power supplies

I'm not sure of the 2/3 rating when using servo's.

as far as seperate power supplies, I would considder multiple
transformers before seperate power supplies. the simplicity of one
set of caps and one voltage regulator is very attractive to me.
