I have a few Baldwin Model 73 shaft encoders that I pulled off some
measuring equipment at work several years ago and it is clear that I
will never get around to using them.
They are 2-1/2 inch dia. and 3 inches long. I believe that they give
2,000 counts per rev. It might be as high as 5,000. They have some
electronics inside the case. They were very expensive units.
I have nine units that I think are good and two that might be
repairable. I will give them to people in sets of two or three.
I found a CNC repairman that will put a used Bandit system on my mill
for $500 so I am going that route. Building my own system is right on
the edge of my skills.
