I'm looking for a Light Machines ProLight 1000/2000 for my dad. In
response to a usenet post, I was contacted by Dave Cummins of
AmeritechCNC. They have 6 CNC ready frames left in stock they are trying
to liquidate before they move their operation to another state. $1850
gets you a 3 axis frame with X-10", Y-8", Z-9", dovetail ways, precision
ground ball screws, and an NMTB30 spindle good for 6,000 rpm. Dave took
a guess at approx 5-600lbs weight. You supply motor mounts, motors,
spindle motor, way covers.
It had me interested for a bit, but I need more travel and a
toolchanger. But I thought with what some folks spend for buying and
retrofitting import manual machines, this might be an attractive deal if
you can live with the travels.
It's the 4th pic down on this page.

I have no connection with Dave or Ameritech, just passing along a deal
that might interest some folks.
