I have a sherline mill that I'd like to do a CNC conversion for. Can
anyone suggest some good resources?

Try this url for an article on converting a lathe, same process for the mill.

I just finished both a Sherline lathe, and mill. I ordered Sherline mounts
from Tim at: timg@.... I used some 120 ounce steppers that I
had.
I am using TurboCNC http://www.dakeng.com software.
and I am using the individual Xylotex stepper drives from: www.xylotex.com
for this application, I like the individual drives, with a spare if I blow one.
Used an old 450 MHz computer running on DOS 6.22.

The Drives are mounted in the bottom of the computer, along with two fans
blowing down on the heatsinks. I mounted a power supply above the HD Drives at
the very top, in front of the computer power supply. The supply is rated at 24
volts and 6 amps, a commercial switching type.
A 18 volt transformer rated at about 6 amps, rectifier and capacitor bank
would probably be cheaper.
