I got new encoders for my Aerotech drives. I ended up with 500 line US
Digital encoders. So far I have the two axis up and running. I've run
a couple files thru tcnc and everything looked OK. I still need to wire
the limit switches.
I have the parts for my Z axis on the way, but I'll need to find a
motor. I will probably be going with a fixed gantry style for my setup
as the X and Y are 12" travel.
Now I need to come up with a milling head. I was thinking of initially
using a Sherline spindle like the 5Bears site mentioned. How is the
accuracy of the Sherline spindle and can I set it up for quick tool
changes without having to check the Z zero? Is there a better system?
Any suggestions are welcome.
