cnc lathe retrofit

Hello to all
I need some help with upgrading my cnc denford lathe to a newer
controller the present version in the my machine is anchient, all
input's are the front panel g-code, ok with that said what i want to
have is a lathe package that will allow me to design a part process
the design through a post processor and then send the file to the
machine to cut.
the machine has older 1/2 step or full step drivers so i would not
mind changing them to newer micro step drives the stepper motors are
MAE hy-200-3424-310-as 3.1 amp 8 wire i think they are ok and i don't
want to get into redesigning a mounting system for new motor's unless
i have to, I have looked at a lot of systems out there but i still
don't know which or what to buy i do not need a Nasa type software
package worh thousands i just need one that works and is user freindly
any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
