Router/Engraving Software?

I am just about to get started building a home brew 24x36 wood
router (Design is done) and was thinking about trying my hand at
some CNC engraving/sign making. The main purpose the router was
designed for was to cut 24 x 36" coroplast sheets but figured as
long as the hardware is there, may as well use ot for other things.

What software would you recommend for sign engraving and image
engraving into wood. (The driver is a XYLOTEX - GREAT BOARD - GREAT
Customer SUPPORT!!!) Prefereably something cheap or with a demo
available as I am not really sure how often I will actually be doing
signs. Maybe sell a few to my lake neighbors if they really want
one, a few xmas gifts perhaps.
