I have an Anorad (IDAC)model 5216 four axis controller, a heavy
Anorad X-Y ball slide and two Anorad rotary tables that I am
thinking about converting it into a table top CNC milling machine. I
have another ball screw, ball slides and parts from a Bridgeport
spindle to make the Z axis. I also have a DRO scale that I can use,
but I don't know enough about electronics to know if I can use this
DRO as a lininer encoder or would I want to use the rotary encoder
from the extra rotary table. If I change the axis from rotary to
linier will I have to replace the PC board in the driver. I guess
what I really need is someone that knows the Anorad unit to give me
their opinion about this whole idea and tell me what I really have.
Thank you.
