Hi Roger

I have both units... the 1 3/4 and the 3 1/4 PC routers.

I think the smaller one is fine for light work with small
bits.

Note that the real horsepower is a good bit less than
advertised on these.

The price difference is not that great if you just buy the
3 1/4 motor without the base. It is about $250 or so. The
only complaint I have is about the noise...hearing protection
is certainly in order.

Does anyone have any experience using one of the 1 3/4 hp Porter
Cable routers as a spindle? I would be using it on the mill for a
high speed spindle with small cutters. The 3 1/2 hp is a lot more
money.
