As some of you might be aware of Industrial Hobbies has been working
on a full head Z-axis conversion for the square column bench mill (RF-
45). Late today the prototype was completed and a movie was taken.
About the movie:
The movie shows 2 cycles of the head the first at 130 IPM and the
second at 27IPM. The 130IPM represents the max traverse rate with a
65V power supply and 27IPM represents the max traverse with 24V.
The total Z-axis is 17.5 inches but due to the joists above my mill I
am limited to 14.5 inches.
Theoretical numbers:
Down-Force: 1930 Lbs
(Torque/.177x Lead) + head weight
Resolution: 0.000125
Max Traverse (Measured): 136.5IPM @65V and 27 IPM @24V
The movie can be found at www.IndustrialHobbies.com in the column to
the left under the heading "New Pages" click on the Movie Index, it's
the one on the bottom. I am sorry about the size of 15mb but it's a
long clip.
It's pretty cool.
Thanks
