Hi Les,
You brought up a really good point I dont think we've considered on
these retrofits: specifying if its a seriesI or a II for these
stepper wiring. My steppers stalled when I accelerated too much so I
tried series coil and could get better speeds.
I've got the 1978 version seriesII with the monster 4Jhead. Looks
like a dinosaur with a really big head and back problem :-) It had
the big squarefinned sigma steppers. I'm in the process of swapping
out the Z axis for a servo. It has an air assist cylinder( I run
about 45 to 64psi ) on the Knee ballscrew to offset the weight of the
whole knee section. But it also causes new minor backlash issues if I
use to much air pressure.
