I have engraved parts and then used a plastic scraper to remove excess paint
while it is still wet. It looks good and I haven't had trouble with it coming
off I think the fact its protected by being below the surface. Even if it
sticks lightly it will not flake out. I have also believe that there are clear
sealers you can cover the entire surface with later. Good Luck
