has anyone figured out a better way to search?

trolling through the archive a couple hundred posts at a time on a
search is a pain. it works ok on the smaller groups, but i've never
once gotten to the end of the 70k+ messages here. anyone figure out an
easier way? i tried an advanced google search targeting this domain,
but it won't let you specify directories. oh well, back to trolling.
