I'm sure I'll be swiftly corrected if I'm wrong, so here's what I think:
Steppers lose torque, not power, at high speeds. They are
theoretically "constant-power" devices, and since power is torque x
rotational speed, as the speed goes up, the torque drops, keeping the power
constant.
But I think that you meant torque, right?
And microstepping means you will be supplying a larger number of
pulses(8x) for the same rotational speed, so you should be able to get the
same torque at 8 x the single-step pulse rate.

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Q regarding microstepping speeds
I'm trying to determine the ideal speeds to run my 180 oz/in NEMA 23
motors with a 8x microstepping controller and Turbo CNC.
Most NEMA 23 motors tend to loose power when driven faster. For
example, lets say we have a motor that looses power above 5000 pulses
per second in full step mode.
When 8x microstepping, does that mean that the same motor would start
to loose power at 40,000 pulses per second?
Best regards,
Keith
