First time posting here....
First I would like to say that you guys are great!
I am looking for a free/low cost CNC Package and also
an interface to run my tube bender from my PC. The
machine (already mostly made) is a rotary draw type,
can do up to 3" OD and has a carraige with an air
chuck to control plane of bend and distance between
bends...I've been using it manually lately but want to
automate it.
Basically I have 5 axes of movement (bend degree
(hydraulic), distance between centers (will be servo),
and plane of bend (will be servo) - rotating tube in
air chuck, pressure die - extend/retract (hydraulic),
and mandrel advance (hydraulic). The above axes will
all have encoders on them (have'nt got the encoders
yet though)
To actuate the above units I only need proportional
control on the degree of bend (PWM hopefully)...the
rest can be on/off simple contact closure circuits as
they have simple on/off solenoid spool valves that use
12VDC.
In addition to that, however, I have a few inputs and
outputs that I need to contend with: clamp die -
clamp/release (hydraulic), and a tube support roller
(air powered - simple on/off solenoid valve). I would
also like to have a couple more I/O's for future
goodies if possible.
I am not new to CNC (have written G codes and used CAM
for milling and turning machines), however I am new to
interfacing CNC machines and actually creating the
signals and hardware that go back and forth.
Sorry for the long post, but I think it helps to get
all the info across. Any help is greatly
appreciated...Thanks!....Todd Syssa
