slightly off topic advice needed

Hello from a lurker,
I have been inactive for a good while, this is because family health problems have kept me out of the shop. Now I have a different problem. I have a friend that is a retired tool and die maker. He was in an accident and in a coma for a time. He is now able to function pretty well but doesn't have a lot of interest in things. At one time he produced beautiful model. engines I have been telling him that he ought to try and learn something about CNC. He has agreed to look at it.
Here is my question. I know he will need to learn something about CAD first. I don't think he will ever start with G codes or even be interested in doing that.
So first; I need to get him some sort of low end CAD package that; (a.) Is affordable and (b.) Is relatively easy to learn?? If you guys don't mind I may come back for more advice later but right now I just need to get him started.
Please answer directly as I don't wish to clutter up the list with something like this.
Thank you in advance and I appreciate you patience.
Regards,
Bob Bailey - baileys@...
P.S. I posted this to another group and so far have not gotten a response.
