REALLY IS? Unless you have a huge router with a heavy gantry, and
expect to be inlaying doors in a production shop, you do NOT need such a
huge power supply. I don't quite know what you are building, but 250 W
may be sufficient, 500 W is almost certainly enough. These unregulated
power supplies are capable of delivering momentary overloads safely.
That's what the capacitors are for, in fact! I ran a mini-mill at the last
NAMES show using my owm servo drives with a power supply that is
closer to 150 W, and it ran cool all day.
